Why Wait On It?

 Good day Pearls,

It’s the Summer Time! The dreariness of the Winter has rolled on away, and now we are ready to see the sun.

I want to be honest with you today. I have been on a mission to get my goals completed, and I can see the finish line. In this work, I identified deadweight situations that just refused to shake me loose until recently. Yet, here I am...revitalized and excited about what the exciting new season will bring me. Pearls, it’s great when you can be you unapologetically.

Being me is actually one of the most satisfying experiences I have ever had in my life. Even though it can intimidate others when you are unapologetic about being yourself, I have learned not to be so quick to dim my shine just because someone can’t handle the focus. But there is also a matter of my being that can negatively affect my progress. The past 19 months have taught me that one true thing is that procrastination is my kryptonite. It can cripple all of my efforts if I allow it. I know that I am not alone in this fight to stop putting things off. This monster subverts the best-laid plans to tackle any goal.

I considered my own behavior towards a significant goal with a 9-month deadline (9 months of the 19 set initially). What I learned about myself and the effects of procrastination was enlightening. Always looking to share with my clan, I knew that I should pass this information and insight to my village. Pearl, if you are looking to beat your Procrastination Troll, here is a Ted Talk from Tim Urban, a co-creator at Wait But Why? (check it out). He is spot on with his characterization of procrastinating behavior. I hope this helps you with your procrastination monster. ***I do not own the rights to this video.

Sparkle On!

Who are you loving, Pearl?

This month is known worldwide as the month where grand gestures are made to show someone how much you love them. February is the time of year outside of Christmas were people have this weird sense of obligation to spend the most resources as a strange, but familiar yet arbitrary indicator of devotion for someone other than oneself.  Though the origins of this day only continue to perpetuate some sort of lovemaking whether committed or casual in today's practice, it is this current day and time that people, more specifically women, need to spend this day practicing Self Care, the love and commitment to oneself. I am sure you've heard me say it before self-care is the foundation of your process/journey and your destination. Self-Care is significantly tied to your entrepreneurial journey in that it's a mirror of your mental health and entrepreneurial health.  Your health status is a byproduct of your self-care efforts.  Have you assessed your mental health status lately? Perspective

Life is always about perspective. Look at today's political scene, wouldn't you say perspective plays a significant role in how our current legislators govern? From the president to the news media to social media to answer the question, "Who are you voting for this coming election?" it is all about perspective.  What's your perspective when you sit down to map out your plans to work on your dream? Are you thinking positively about your next steps? Describe your business perspective? How do you sharpen your skills and strengthen your mental dexterity? How do prepare your business for a transformation? Do you have a growth mindset as it relates to your family and business goals?  Gain a perspective:   Set a time and place for you to focus on tasks related to your business goals. This space should be separate from the space for other responsibilities. Allowing other responsibilities to crowd this space is distracting and clutters creativity. It doesn'
